So I created an account, check out the interface, and have read quite a few of the posts under "General Reactions to Booklamp's Approach." I have to agree with most of them.

The books I want recommendations for simply aren't listed.
Booklamp doesn't really provide me with anything I can't get somewhere else.

I read Dan's responses to similar complaints. He said that there were more books that weren't in the demo and that sites like Amazon were based off book sales not objective facts. He said to "check back in the summer."

Well if the books in the demo aren't what people like/are looking for, your demo is going to fall short, not draw people in. And why suggest a book that is unpopular or not in print as it might be difficult to get ahold of and the reader might not like it anyway. The thing about Amazon is you see what a vast majority of of readers liked when they also liked the book you are searching for. And you can search that book and even read some of it and judge it for yourself.

Lastly, it is summer and it would seem that I have the same complaints that people did many months ago. I don't think I will be returning. I think I will stick to Amazon and the suggestions those with similar taste. Neither has failed me yet.

Hi LRoy, sorry you've not been too impressed with the demo. Fact is, neither are we (anymore). But that's only because we've made such vast improvements since the conception of the tech demo.

At this point we are now working with way more books, way more data points, and an even more refined comparison process. We are publicly launching all of this in 5 days; yes the 16th.

What we love about the way we compare books is that it's the best way for our users to find books matching custom criteria that they likely never would have found through services that only recommend books based on buying habits, ratings, and social recommendations. This gives both the readers and authors a way to 'match up' that no service has ever been able to do before.

Would you mind sticking around until we launch and giving us some more feedback then?
