I'd love to test Booklamp, but I didn't even read any of those books. Mainly because I'm a german in Germany and most of them are not known here. But also because the List is very short. Robert A. Wilson (Illuminatus Triology) and  William Gibson (Neuromancer) are really missing, I expected on of them on the list.

What book from the list should I start with?

At the moment things are still in beta, which is why there's so few books to choose from.  I've only read one or two books on the list myself.  I know Jurassic Park's on there...  If you're looking for one to read right now, why not start there?  It's better than the movie, I think.  Cheesy

Its always good to read some, but its not needed, its just to show you what can be done and what will be done, you can read some, then read another based on the systems recommendations to see if it actualy works, but I can say that it does!

I haven't read anything on this list either, except Orwell's 1984. I am not even slightly interested in Sci-Fi or Fantasy, and it seems like the majority of the books on this list fall into one of those categories. I get that it's still in beta, and that the database will eventually be much larger... but how soon? It's not something I'm likely to check back on more than once. If I come back in three months and the book list still has nothing that interests me, I will delete it from my bookmarks.

I haven't read many of these books either.  I read Jurassic Park and 1984, but neither of them are favorites of mine.  I would suggest making popular books and classics a priority, because more people have read them.

Kate,

The books that are currently available to be searched against are only for demonstration purposes.  We expect that most people probably haven't read any of the books - that's why there is a dropdown menu and not a search bar as well.  Outside of the lack of books, we hope that the proposed concept gives a good idea of what to expect from us.  And, WOW! have things changed since the demonstration first launched.  Please keep us in mind for the future - we hope to make each of your future reading experiences better from our accurate high quality recommendations.

Thanks for the interest,
Dan

I agree. But not just popular and classics, but try and get books from different genres. But this is a beta so I'm not really surprised at the small list at the moment.

First, I think the demonstration says what it needs to say... for now.  It could be updated, but there are more important issues to take care of at the moment.  I can't say for certain, but the next public step with respect to the Reader's Project will probably be the usable launch.  Don't quote me on that.

Marie, you're absolutely correct in not being surprised, the database is small and meant to convey the informative possibility to those interested - such as yourself.

Keep in touch,

Quoted.  Cheesy

Well, that would sure beat an updated tech demo, for sure.

That statement is less reliable than you seem to think, Stephen.

I never said anything about it being reliable or not.  I quoted you on it sarcastically cause you said not to...  >_>  I wasn't quoting it for emphasis.

I got it, Stephen  Wink  Sometimes sarcasm slips through the cracks in written text.

That is the problem with delayed conversations - I doubt Daniel went back and re-read what he'd written before reading your comment and as such missed the play on words.

No worries Stephen.  I'm kind of in my own circle, while I'm still in Tallahassee for the rest of the summer.  I can make more confident statements along those lines this coming fall when I start to get settled in Boise.
