Hello everybody! And for those who are reading this, thanks for choosing it!! Grin okay, so I am very upset because my school library SUCKS and I never get to go to my public library. Okay, so i've read a bunch of good books and im looking for the same action packed genres with a lot of realism and romance. Books like the Maximum Ride series, the Twilight series, and the Hunger Games series. ...I like series Grin So, i've also read books like perfect strangers and heaven looks alot like the mall which are good, but i prefer the series. I'd realllllyy like some suggestions on this. Thanks soo much!! --BlondeAngel*

BlondeAngel,

Whoa!  That's a bit hard on the eyes.  We're doing what we can to get our recommendation engine up for the public.  Thanks for the request.  I've been away from the office for a bit, but if I recall correctly I think some of our preliminary recommendations returned the ?House of Night? series.  Like I said, nothing official, but maybe give that series a try and see what you think.  There's something like 5 books in the series, so if you like it, that should keep your imagination running for a while.

If you do check it out, maybe you could post your thoughts back to the forums.

Keep in touch,
Dan

PS  I'm not certain of the name of the series, but I know the name of one of the later books... Hunted by P.C. Cast and Kristen Cast.

Dan and I were chatting about this a little, so I wanted to throw in a thought or two.  Twilight is a book that we have information on in terms of writing style, so I wanted to throw three books out there for you to try; I'm curious which - if any - you'll like, since they're all recommended for different reasons.  Smiley

All three are based in some way on your preference for Twilight, though different aspects of Twilight for each.

1. House of Night by P.C. and Kristin Cast:
The first book of House of Night is called Marked, and as I said above, is basically about a young girl that finds out she is a vampire, and goes to a school with other vampires to learn the trade (Vampire Sociology and the like).  Over time, she grows in power, grows up, and kicks butt, basically.  The writing style of Cast is similar to Twilight, though not exact.  Hunted's Pacing and Dialog levels are not exactly like Twilight (lower paced, higher dialog), but many of the other elements overlap.

2. Tattoo by Jennifer Lyne Barnes:
Tattoo is a closer writing style match to Twilight than House of Night.  It's about a group of four high school girls (as I understand it) that all gain some sort of special power through their tattoos.  Not only are Barnes' writing style metrics similar to Twilight, but the keyword overlap between the two is better than House of Night.  If I had to pick one on your list, I'd be curious to hear how you liked this one, but it's really dependent on which storyline you find interesting.

3. Fly on the Wall by E Lockhart:
About a high school girl that wishes she could understand the other people in the school, and gains the ability to see what other people are doing when she's not there.  I haven't read the book, but I think she might actually do this by turning into a fly?  Not sure.  Smiley  Again, depends on which story seems interesting to you.

Regardless of which - if any - of these you decide to read, I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on any of them.  Hate them or love them, they're very different from each other in some ways, and knowing which connect and which don't would be informative.   Smiley

Good luck.
