I personally think this is a great idea. However, I feel the site needs to be less clunky  and more fluid. Less about how
your choices are being limited into categories by the search engines. If one chooses to search by these options so be it, but it feels the education of your audience will
hamper the great use of this tool. Netflix does a great job though being a very rudimentary search engine (documentary, drama, comedy etc..)
but what really gets me to choose a movie is the reviews by users.
Plus what if I want to break away from my habits of reading?
What if I want to read something completely different ? I feel these search engines could
maybe come up with some interesting findings if you offer a engine search that does somewhat the opposite, or cross category platforms.
Sorry I'm new to the site, you might of answered these types of questions already.
Great idea I hope to see book lamp on a google phone some day.
Thank you

Mark,

Thanks for the interest and support.  The site is the same as it was the day it was launched, approximately one year ago.  It's meant as a demonstration for now.  All of our progress has been behind the scenes since then, so your complaints are fair, but it is only a demonstration.  For example, it would be a bit ridiculous to use a drop down list with millions of books to choose from.  I've mentioned the Netflix thought specifically, and it's been noted.
I don't know exactly where in the forums you might find this, but an opposite recommendation has been spoken of - it might be in the video also... I can't remember, but that has been a topic of discussion.  Recommending specifically across genres has also been discussed.
Things are busy now and I wish i could tell the world about the sorts of tools that BL has in development - very, very intriguing tools.  Bookmark the site, keep in touch, whatever you feel necessary.  This is a very different and valuable book recommendation than you're use to.
And, of course, with the growing popularity of phone apps and such, that will not be overlooked.

Sincerely,
Dan
