So Paul and I spent a good part of yesterday at the Idaho Innovation Award luncheon.  It was an award ceremony for the companies that had been selected as finalists to receive recognition for being some of the most innovative companies of the year.  Much to our pleasure, Novel Projects, Inc. and BookLamp.org were nominated for Innovation of the Year: Early Stage Technology.

And I'm happy to report that we won, too.  So I found myself standing in a room of 100 people yesterday collecting a glass trophy and then being asked to say a few words.

I prepared for that, though I should have been, so I took the stand and thanked Paul, who received his own applause, and then said a few thanks not only to the group assembled, but to all of Boise, as well.  Many of the people gathered in the room have stopped by our office at some point or another to chat with us, wish us well, or give their advice on what we're doing.

I have no idea who the 30+ judges were from across the state that were kind enough to award us with the honor (along with another company as well, we actually tied), but we couldn't appreciate it more.

Really, my thanks should have gone out to a much broader crowd - a global thanks.  But, this really is one of the first formal awards that we've received, and it's somewhat satisfying.

Paul and I stopped by a restaurant on the way back to the office afterward and had some ice cream in celebration.  I had chocolate (they're the only ice cream place in the world that doesn't serve vanilla), and Paul had some sort of berry substance.

Overall, a good day.

Aaron

P.S. Paul finally talked me into creating a Twitter account for myself. So now both he and I have twitter accounts, created just a day or two ago.  I'll add a link somewhere on BookLamp and CanGoogleHearMe, but for now my user name is http://twitter.com/AaronStanton, and Paul's is http://twitter.com/the_deacon

Snazzy!

(And I'm following you now...  I don't think I'll ever feel less of a stalker when I say that.)

You know, it's funny, the keynote speaker was the former CEO of Micron Electronics.  After leaving Micron he started a small start-up that's only a few blocks from our office.  So I invited him to lunch after I get back from Seattle.  And he agreed.

It always surprises me how accessible people are if you ever get around to introducing yourself.  Anyway, I'm going to make a quick post before I go to bed.  Hope all is well.

Aaron

Oh, and it's not stalker-like... unless, you're like... actually following me.  Then that would be a bit creepy.  Smiley  But by twitter I'm pretty sure it's considered normal.  I mean, technically I'm stalking like 20+ people, if that's not the case.  Hmm... does make me feel a little creepy when you look at it that way.  Smiley
