This Timeline sticky is here to help give people an idea of how we plan on moving this project forward.  It will be updated from time to time as new information presents itself.  At the moment, this timeline only extends until next week as we figure out our long term plans.

Thursday, March 26th - Public Discussions About Project Future:

The plan is to hook up a webcam at the next programmer meeting, and sit down with the local team members and have a serious discussion about our next moves.  This is where each member will get a chance to express personal concerns and thoughts about things like raising VC, partnerships, general public reaction, etc.  We'll record these discussions and post them to the site.  This may or may not be a live broadcast with some structure to allow you to submit questions during the discussion.

We'll also see about establishing an official BookLamp blog somewhere in this area.  The goal of these meetings will be to allow everyone to see our reasoning process and to figure out a sound course of action.  From there we'll draw up a new development timeline.

Also in the Week of March 24th - Video Introducing Publisher's Project, Additional Applications:

Somewhere in the same week, we'll post a video introducing the Publisher's Project.  It'll be the first in a series of videos that discuss different potential applications of the project - there are still a few tricks up the sleeve yet, I think.  These videos will be rolled out as they're completed.

That's it for the initial timeline.

Thursday sounds very interesting!  I'll be with you in spirit from (checks itinerary) Llangollen!  I guess I'll have a lot to catch up on when I get back.

Hmm... it's doubtful I'll be around much Thursday, though if I am I'll try my best to at least watch the discussion some, if not get some questions in.  Smiley

Sounds great. I can't wait to see where you'll go from here...you've gotten almost 10,000 members on the forums here and on BookLamp.org in just under two weeks, so I think that this idea is definitely something to hold on to. Keep us posted.  Smiley

NOTE:  The broadcast will be at 9:30 MST, Thursday, March 27th.  When the show goes live, you'll be able to find it at this URL:

http://www.ustream.tv/channel/booklamp-broadcast

Most likely, this is far too late a post for many people to know that the discussion is going on, but we'll record it and embed it in the page.  We'll also have additional sessions later on - this is more of a test run to figure out the system.

I'm sorry - what is MST related to the GMT or even UTC for those of us over the ocean...   Cheesy

Wrong day, I know.

I believe MST is GMT - 7 hours... give or take 1 hour.  XD

I wasn't able to watch the actual live feed, but I'm planning on checking it out quite soon here.  Thanks for posting the link!

no worries found it, but how come we need to add you as friends, would it not be better to have it viewable to all, maybe link it from the CGHM page?

Certainly... actually, there were a number of issues that showed up with the ustream.tv system that I hadn't noticed until after we had launched the event.  For one, the fact that you have to sign up for an account in order to chat... blah.  How silly.

I was unaware you had to be added as a friend in order to watch the video - so that's another strike against it.  Perhaps that's a setting I need to adjust.  I'll look into that today.

In truth, the first video conference, while entertaining, could certainly have been more polished.  The next one will be more focused, to the point, and with a bit more of a format (and probably limited to 30 minutes long).

I'll look into the friend/not-friend viewing issue.  That's not what I want at all.  Smiley

Cheers,

Aaron

P.S.  I'll post a synopsis of the important points from the video here in the next few minutes.

Also, in the future I'll do a better job of making the timing more clear (posting in GMT as opposed to local times).  Paul is finishing the final touches on the BookLamp blog feed right now, which should make life a bit easier for these sorts of things in a bit.
